Maybe I’ll see you this winter
When the limbs go cold and empty
Maybe you’ll say yes, and we’ll walk
Hand in hand, at dusk,
Beneath a glaucous sky
The imminent weight of a snowfall
Has already absconded with
The echoes of our footfall.
Soundproof souls,
Crossing shooting stars
A moment might be
The time of our lives
This is the alchemy of us
A lifetime in an hourglass
Gold hidden in the dross
“You never know,” you said,
“Anything could happen.”
So you await maybe-endings
But if you ever wonder, know
I’ll be here, waiting for the beginning.
